We installed smart, modern, timber screening above the newly restored stone wall, with many of the stones and bricks being replaced and a lime mortar mix added as the new grout.

The home with this stone wall is at the top of a hill in the heart of Bristol, with the garden having great views across the city centre. If you would like to see how this project started life, take a look here.
You’ll see from our previous post, the clay soil that we had to contend with and dig out, along with the high steps that all the materials and waste had to be carried up and down. A fantastic corten steel edging pack was bought from an online company. It is thick, durable and will look stunning as the colour evolves and deepens over time, whilst it is weathered by nature.
The sunken, lower area of the garden was the last section to be worked on, and has steps leading down into it, with a matching timber bench, and stepping stones going across a new lawn.
Seeing this project being finalised was amazing. When I arrived to take photos, the Bristol based garden designer was there planting trees. She will be planting the rest of the plants in the spring. Upon which point I will then be able to show you more of the completed photos of this garden.
Gaps of soil have been left in various areas for the springtime planting.
Having privacy and security for this family must be very refreshing. Up until we began work on this garden, the whole outside had been completely neglected, with a rickety, old fence, and left a lot to be desired. The beautiful, new, pathway created with narrow and Victorian pavers, certainly create a wonderful entrance to the front door and garden.
Keep an eye out in the springtime when we will post more photos of this garden; when the plants have been added and the design is developing and growing.
