Hard Pruning Photinia Standards

We’ve been taking care of the garden maintenance in this lovely, little back garden in Bishopston for a few years. The Photinia are beautiful, but they were growing over into both neighbours gardens. Our customer was keen for us to prune them to reduce the size.

Hard pruning of Photinia should be done late April into May, when the last chance of frost has passed. The frost can damage tender regrowth. If you were to hard prune them in the autumn/winter they would be susceptible to frost as the temperature drops.

It was a satifying and tranquil garden maintenance visit, and we thoroughly enjoyed working on the trees.
