Tiered Front Garden on a Busy Bristol Road

We worked on this garden at the end of the summer. Our customer had moved in about a year ago and wanted to update the front garden, which had a tiered effect, dropping down to a busy road in Bristol.

The boys constructed large timber sleeper borders on two levels, on top of existing low walls, to raise the height in line with the trellis at the top.  The access to the back garden was down a small lane, so all materials were craned straight into the front garden by our supplier.

The boys dug holes for posts to add new pieces of trellis to match the others at the front of the garden. Then the area was covered in membrane, whilst two areas were prepared for small patio areas.

The two large borders were filled with any old gravel and had new top soil added. Membraned was then laid in place with plants added. Our chose Cherry Laurel for the top border, which will create a fast growing hedge to give them extra privacy from the main road. Two Willows were added in the border below that with low level planting in the lowest border.

The two smaller patio areas were finished off, whilst the gravel was brought in and laid. It’s certainly made a big difference to this garden and our customer, with the entrance to their home being much more welcoming and neat.
