A Sweeping New Lawn For This Garden Design

We are coming to the end of our garden design, for this landscaping project in Cotham. We’ve been turfing the new lawn this week, with the last finishing touches next week, including planting the borders.

Now that the large conifer by the house has been removed, the area is much lighter and brighter. Although it was a lovely tree, it was very close to the house and had started to cause issues. We will be planting a beautiful Acer in its place.

We prepared the soil, to make ready for turfing the new lawn. The rolls were dry upon arrival, making them nice and light for the first half of laying the lawn. Unfortunately the rains came before we could finish turfing, which made laying more difficult, but looked fantastic towards the end of the day.

We ensured, that whilst we raked and prepared the soil as we laid the rolls of turf, we created the correct level of soil, so that the turf would rest just under the timber borders by the steps.

Although the rain during the second half of the day made laying harder, it is a great time of year for laying turf as it gets well watered during the rainy months.

This tree stump will be grinded at the beginning of next week, with this border prepared for the new planting scheme.

Once the main body of the lawn was turfed we cut the pieces to go in between the yellow limestone stepping stones. This new pathway curves from the gravel area by the decking, down to the new patio.
