The old decking that we removed from this area, was old and rotten. The boys have constructed a new frame, ready for the deck boards. If you’d like to see how this garden looked at the start of this project, click here.
The bottom of the garden began to be levelled and made ready for a new porcelain patio, with the concrete block perimeter wall awaiting render.
At the foot of the new deck frame, a timber raised bed was constructed, ready to be filled with quality top soil. The Cemento Grey Porcelain was delivered into the lane, with us all shifting it into the garden, ready for the paving to commence.
Jerry and Sam did the render’s scratch coat, with the gateway gap just large enough for us to continue to crane tonne bags of materials in.
The porcelain patio already looks good whilst it’s going down. Jerry cut slabs to size, primed and laid them. On the right hand side of the patio will be a new shed, for storage.
It’s always good to make sure you’re wearing Personal Protective Equipment to minimise the impact of potential injuries.
The weather has been very dry for the past couple of weeks, so this project is coming along well. The boys laid out the porcelain slabs to work out where the stepping stones would lie.
There is something so tactile and wonderful about stepping stones – they really make the space start to come alive, and link up different areas of the garden.
The timber frame of the steps, next to the raised bed were constructed, with a small paved area next to the house, where the power point and tap is located. Once this was all laid and setting the boys started rendering the new perimeter wall.
The wall has had porcelain slabs cut to size and added to finish the tops. Once rendered the walls will be painted, with a new timber, tongue and groove, flat top gate installed. The wall is certainly looking sleek and ready for the weekend! Check back in with us again soon to see how this project is going.
