As you can see, the fence/trellis that runs between the two houses is in a pretty bad state and needs to be replaced. Also the decking at the bottom of the garden is old, rotten and slippery.

The broken trellis runs behind the arbour. So, the boys will dismantle the trellis and replace it with new.

The decking up by the house has also seen better days, so this has also been ripped out.

Dan and Sam have been alternating on this job, with all of the timber coming out through the front door as there is no access to the back garden.

Once the timbers have been removed, it is good to see the area back to the basic garden layout, and then construction of the new areas can begin.

The boys created a low retaining wall out of concrete blocks for the new patio area by the back of the house, and wacked down the base of rubble and stone dust.

At the lower end of the garden, they constructed a small yellow limestone patio. The warmth of the yellow tones really brighten up this darker spot at the bottom of the garden. The yellow slabs also look complimentary to the sunlight shining on the beautiful, old, stone wall.

At the other end of the garden, by the house, the yellow limestone slabs also started being laid, with some intricate cuts around the timber post, and a step being added.

The sun was shining for a new bench to be constructed at the end of the garden. The boys created it out of concrete blocks and then lined it with yellow limestone. We can imagine how lovely it will be to sit here with a glass of wine of an evening.

Once the slabs were added, the boys could then start installing the timber slats for the screening. This covers up the dilapidated shed in the next door garden, as well as giving a structural focal point, that climbers can grow up.

It looks stunning next to the new trellis panels next to it. The newly paved area with bench, trellis and timber screening really improves and modernises the bottom of this garden.

The new upper patio by the house, is a more functional area that can now be utilised, rather than our customer having to worry about slipping over on the rotting decking. If you are keen to see what our next project is, check back in with us soon.
