Our team carried on working on the levelling of the area, which involved removing all of the turf scalpings. If you’d like to see how this garden looked before landscaping click here. Posts for holes were dug around the perimeter of the garden for the new timber screen fence which will be installed.

Sam marked out a line to cut to. This area will be a timber, sleeper raised bed, with screening above it. Flo and I dug this line of earth, which will drop down to the new lawn.

Thankfully, we’ve had a couple of weeks of completely dry weather, so scalping, levelling and digging this large area has been fairly simple. Jess and Sam started with the construction of the screening, which will run along just higher than the neighbour’s fence.

It’s very satisfying when landscaping to stand back and see the progress that you are making. By cutting the line around the raised bed area and the patio, we could see the structure of this garden starting to take shape.

A new porcelain paving slab patio will be laid in due course, after a concrete block retaining wall has been constructed on the edge.

A timber screen really is a thing of beauty. There are many benefits of having screening in your garden; they allow light and air to flow through and around it, climbers can be grown through and up them creating a great space for vertical planting, and they look visually appealing.
