Whilst we had been constructing the back garden, we had been using the front garden to store materials that we were using. Once we began to clear this, the tree surgeon stepped in to cut down a tree that had become too large for the space.

He took it down piece by piece, and then Jerry used a mini digger to remove the stump. A grab was brought in to remove excess soil from the garden. We left some along the edges where some lovely roses are growing. These are going to look fantastic with the timber screen as a back drop.

The grey porcelain paving that has been used for the patio in the back garden, has also been added down the walkway between the front and back.

A base layer was created for the driveway, and an old drain cover removed (the large slab in the below photo is covering the hole). This will have a new drain cover added shortly. Holes were dug for timber posts next to the stone wall, around the edge of the front garden.

Once the slats were added, the look of the garden has started to take shape. The tops of the posts will be cut off. This structural detail really makes this front garden look smart and welcoming. The slats provide air and light to enter through, with plants being able to grow up and around them. Timber screening is a great way to modernise your garden.

The front garden steps have been worked on during this time, so that they match the paving down the walkway and in the back garden. Once they are pointed and finished off, they will be a nicer way to enter the house.

For the last day of this week Team Jerry started constructing a small patio in the front garden; laying grey porcelain slabs, surrounded by a concrete blocks, topped with red bricks. This low retaining wall extends the planted border areas, which will create a secluded, relaxing space.

The boys took care with the level of the paving, to ensure that it works perfectly with the block paving of the new driveway.
