Flagstones, Coping Stones and Timber Raised Beds

Before the Christmas holidays we managed to start this back garden in the Redland area of Bristol. We had already completed the stone walling work here prior to this, a few weeks ago.

It was good for the team to get together to work out the plan of action on this new project. The newly restored walls look amazing. We brought in lots of timber sleepers through the porch. The weather was thankfully dry and grey, so no muddy borders to deal with.

We also carried in all the tools that we would need. Pennant flagstones are being laid in the top patio area, with new limestone coping stones around the top of the stone seating area near the house.

The timber sleepers are being used to not only create raised borders, but also as stepped levels in the garden – an inexpensive, structurally sound method that will look aesthetically appealing.

The chop saw was used to cut the timber to size. Shrubs and vegetation were pruned to work within the borders.

The stepped areas were compacted, ready for laying the flagstones, creating new steps coming down from the top existing flagstone patio.

We brought in antique black limestone coping stones to replace the top edge of this area outside the backdoor. This is a less expensive option but looks very similar to Pennant stone. A great alternative.
