Driveway Construction Continues…

The past week or so we’ve been continuing this large driveway in Bishopston. We’ve had fantastic autumnal weather, bright and fresh; perfect for landscaping.

A lot of preparation had been done the previous week, with the base layer of type 1 compressed with a wacker plate. Two drains were also installed as replacements to the old worn drain covers that had been removed. Aco drains were installed along the edge of the driveway to collect run off.

Edging was laid along the perimeter of the driveway, around the house and step from the front door, as well as constructing a semi circular border by the front wall. If you are keen to see how this project started out, have a look here.

Where a section of the wall had been removed to make two entrances to the driveway, we reconstructed the end of the wall. More type 1 sub base was brought in to create the correct level at the other side of the driveway.

Early morning’s on site are always good for working out the plan for the landscaping work for the day ahead. We enjoy good banter whilst we work, which is good for team morale and our hard working ethic.

Along with the semi circle, edged border, we also constructed a corner timber framed raised bed within the design. This will look so smart when it is planted up. Both sections of these soft landscaped areas will give the driveway some colour and seasonal interest, as well as giving something towards the biodiversity of local wildlife.

Come back to us next time to see how this driveway is progressing. Block paving will be laid next week.
