Jerry started off the task of modernising this garden, by mowing the grass, as it was very long and thick. This will help the process when the turf cutter is brought in to remove the lawn.
Ballast was brought in to create a base for the new limestone patio at the end of the garden, with a timber sleeper edge constructed around the right hand side of the garden. This will be a newly planted border.
Whilst the timber border was being created, the boys also constructed a timber sleeper raised border for the left hand side of the garden. This would be perfect for growing vegetables and soft fruit.
It’s really good to see a garden transitioning during a landscaping project. The mature trees in the corner will ensure that the new garden already starts looking established, rather than all the plants being small at the beginning.
Sam worked hard constructing the new patio. The grey limestone compliments the yellow tone of the soft wood sleepers.
A trench for the edging, going around the majority of the garden was dug, and filled in and tamped to create a good base. Sam then started laying limestone edging to match the patio.
The sun was shining for Friday afternoon, whilst the rest of the edging went down. The light grey tone of this compliments the decking. It’s good to consider complimentary colours in your hard landscaping materials.
Check back in with us next week, when we’ll be planting up this garden and laying a new lawn. The exciting soft landscaping aspects of garden design!
