Previously, this garden originally appeared much smaller, as there was a concrete garage taking up a large section of the space, along with a huge conifer, which has been removed. If you’d like to see how this garden looked when we started this project, click here.
Once the garage, tree and back wall had been demolished, our team could then begin the process of removing the broken up, concrete pathway, concrete panels and green waste. The access to this garden is a narrow lane, which means we could not receive any deliveries from large trucks or have removal by grabs, so we did both of these activities ourselves.
The green waste and wood were removed first off, and then we began the task of removing the concrete. The panels were super heavy. But, we’ve been incredibly thankful for the change of weather lately, with sunshine daily and temperatures reaching 14 degrees – not a common thing for early March.
Once the removal process was in full swing, a trench was dug and a concrete footing made for a new garden wall. This will have a wooden gate in the centre.
We brought in concrete blocks and started the construction of the wall. This will be rendered. As the wall grew in height, we made sure to deliver as much materials as we could before it got too high to crane them over.
More concrete continued to be carried out, ready to go to the recycling centre. Sam constructed the wall as was going on. Red bricks that were in good condition were stacked in a pile to keep for the future.
Once the waste was gone, the team could start levelling the area at the bottom of the garden, near the new wall, ready for a porcelain patio. Come back soon to see how this landscaping project is developing.
