The weather has continued to be pretty dry lately, making the digging of the new pond simple – quite tough to dig the hard earth, but not muddy. Slipping about and being covered in mud is hard work, even for a landscaper.

Shelves were dug into the pond for marginal and pond plants to be sat on, once it has been lined and filled with water.

With the sandstone patio next to the back fence, and apple tree near to the pond, this area of the garden is starting to take shape. When placing a pond, it is a good idea not to have large trees overlooking it, so that it doesn’t get filled with falling leaves.

On the opposite side of the garden, the raised patio has been constructed next to the back of the house, with two stepped areas being worked on, for access into the garden.

Sam began laying the same sandstone slabs down this narrow pathway, that comes from the back of the garage, past the shed into the garden. It’s quite a tight area to fit into, so Sam took care laying and cutting slabs here. The warm tones of the paving will elevate this area making it feel more comforting and inviting.

A simple timber border has been constructed next to the back fence, to add plants and climbers. Check back in with us soon to see the next steps of this garden design project.
