We loved the garden and all the campanula that had spread itself around, but our customer wanted it removed. The plan was to take the garden back to a basic level, so that we could see the ‘naked space’ and then plant some small, low maintenance shrubs.
This rocker border needed some attention, we will plant in this area. There are also some good sized pots with plants; some of these we may plant in the ground. We also discarded many small pots around the garden, as our customer can no longer water them. She is giving them to a good friend.
The pergola has been made out of drain pipes, which is a really cool upcycling idea. We will paint them in due course. The ivy had become a bit over powering, so we took them right down to the ground. These are very hardy and will re-grow, but we can now take care of them going forward.
We also shaped the Acer and Ginkgo. We couldn’t believe that the Ginkgo is actually planted in a small pot – the roots are going into the ground below, but what an incredible sight. Such a fantastic tree.
We moved many of the sculptures so that they can be repositioned at a later date. The landscaping team will be coming to rip up the paving in this garden in the next month or so. Porcelain paving will then be laid in it’s place.
Flo sawed off a dead stump that our customer couldn’t manage, and we cut the Nandina back as it had grown quite tall and was shading out the space. It is now much easier for our customer to navigate around their garden, and we know that she is very pleased.
We are looking forward to the planting stage, along with seeing the new patio and painted pergola soon.
We shall also be painting the perimeter fence on a nice sunny day. Along with jet washing the back garden, Flo also did the front porcelain driveway, which looked fantastic when she had finished.
Come back again soon to see the completion of this garden transformation.
