So our team came in to make this a more sound environment. They started off by ripping out the old artificial turf. We cut it into smaller pieces so that we could roll it up and carry it through the house as the access through the back gate was problematic for our vehicles.

The artificial turf came away easily as it was pinned down to the membrane below it. We took up the membrane and dug out the gravel below that. Everything had to come through the house and down some steep steps to the road below.

Once the removal had taken place, the boys added new fence panels, a couple of stepping stones between the lawn and steps, and a couple of tonnes of top soil. They were then ready to add the new rolls of RTF (Rhizomatous Tall Fescue) turf. This turf is hard wearing and is also good for shadier spots. It is used on professional football pitches and is a good option for lawn. It is a more expensive option but is a better quality.

With this dry summer, our customer is going to have to make sure to water it daily for three weeks whilst it establishes, if not longer whilst this hot weather continues.
